Associate, Robert “Scott” Norman, represents both individual and corporate clients in a variety of matters with an emphasis in design professional liability, construction defect litigation, real estate matters, and business disputes.  His diverse litigation practice has allowed him to develop experience with a wide range of legal topics.  More particularly, Mr. Norman handles matters such as the following:

• Manages all aspects of civil litigation at the trial and appellate court levels with an emphasis on defending contractors and design professionals in construction defect, employment, and business disputes.
• Represents both landlords and tenants in residential and commercial lease negotiations and landlord/tenant disputes.
• Advises clients on most transactional aspects of their businesses, including entity formation and governance, contract negotiation, and establishing employment policies and procedures.
• Successfully handled an appeal on behalf of a property owner reversing a trial court’s judgment requiring an environmental impact report a proposed residential subdivision in a California Environmental Quality Act case.

Prior to joining Balestreri, Potocki & Holmes, Mr. Norman’s experience includes practicing at a boutique class action firm specializing in civil rights litigation. In two notable cases, Mr. Norman successfully defended a local church’s First Amendment right to practice its religion by feeding the homeless on its premises, and was counsel on a successful federal class action lawsuit brought on behalf of homeless people against the City of San Diego for the confiscation and destruction of their personal property.
